There are so many carbon fiber decal in the market. I have
tried several of them and would like to make a little comparsion.
Here is the list.
- Modelers D22 (600 yen) - Carbon Fiber 2 (out of production)
- F1 Specialties ($5.95) - 1/20 Carbon Fiber
- Modelers D923 (600 yen) - Carbon Fiber 1 (new release)
- SMS 1020 ($8) - Carbon Fiber
- SMS 1120 ($8) - Carbon Fiber Black on Bronze (just a control
comparsion :)
In terms of darkness with darkest on the top.
- Modelers D22 - Very dark look, you can use Humbrol black to touch up.
- F1 Specialties - Very dark too.
- Modelers D923 - A bit more metallic look, need to mix up color if touch up needed.
- SMS 1020 - Very metallic look, need to mix up color if touch up needed.
In terms of pattern with finest first.
- F1 Specialties - a bit too fine for 1/20, I guess its 1/12 scale may fit 1/20 well too.
- Modelers D923 - almost right
- SMS 1020 - just right
- Modelers D22 - too coarse for 1/20 in some case
In terms of flexibility over edge and curve with finest on the top.
- F1 Specialties - very flexible, good with Gunze decal softener.
- Modelers D923 - very flexible, good with Gunze decal softener.
- Modelers D22 - flexible, good with Gunze decal softener, but need more time to conform.
- SMS 1020 - flexible if used with Microscale decal softener. Be careful, Microscale is very strong.
Enjoys!
